Barrie Public Library presents – Author, Alison Pick

Adults – Evergreen Author Reading: Alison Pick

Barrie Public Library welcomes Canadian author and poet Alison Pick. Alison is most recently the author of the moving memoir Between Gods. As a teenager, Alison made a startling discovery: that her paternal grandparents, who had escaped from the Czech Republic during WWII, were Jewish–and that most of this side of the family had died in concentration camps. When Alison is diagnosed with depression, she begins exploring this side of her family history. During her quest to discover a sense of self and a sense of worth, she begins to believe that returning to her family’s Jewish roots would be a step in the right direction. Between Gods has been nominated for the 2015 Forest of Reading Evergreen Award. Pick’s previous book, Far to Go was nominated in 2011.
